The
TopHat telescope (without sun shield)
shortly before going into the thermovac
chamber. The telescope has been outfitted
with aluminized mylar blanketing to help
thermally isolate the cold mirror and
cryostat from the hot electronics.
Another
view of the telescope showing the digital
electronics cage. Also visible are the three
secondary mirror supports which suspend
the secondary mirror via small kevlar threads.

The sun shield will be lowered in through the
roof. Radiator panels will also be installed
before the door is closed and the pumping begins.
A quartz window on the back wall of the chamber
allows pictures of the rotating telescope to
be taken with an IR camera.
