Astrophysical Journal Online
From 1st January 1997, issues of the Astromical Journal are online. ApJ Letters are available from July 1995. Oxford University has a subscription to this service. You can view PDF files using xpdf.

ADS abstract search (France).
Search for abstracts from all the major astronomical journals. This is a mirror of the US site. It has a help page.

The XXX e-print archive (UK)
Not as rude as it sounds, this mirror of xxx.lanl.gov is a fully automated electronic archive and distribution server for research papers. There is an author search and a more fully featured fill-in form search.



Databases

Leicester Database and Archive Service
LEDAS provides an on-line astronomical database service and access to archive data from high energy astrophysics missions such as ROSAT and GINGA.

Centre de Donne'es astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS)
Hosts the SIMBAD astronomical database (connect to this using xsimbad). They also have a service allowing you to search astronomical catalogues and also published tables from all the major journals (since Jan 1993).

Infrared Processing and Analysis Center
IPAC has a number of on-line services including the NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (NED) and methods to display and scan IRAS databases, such as IRSKY and XCATSCAN

UK Mirror of the NRAO VLA Sky Survey
Results of the 1.4 GHz NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS) begun in September 1993. This should cover the sky north of -40 deg declination (82% of the celestial sphere) before the end of 1996.
