SMA connector
We are using the Macom 2052-1133-00 SMA-microstrip launch connector. It has a tab on the microstrip side. We also tried out the 2052-1215-02, which has a small pin instead of a tab. We found no meaningful difference in performance of the two, but the tabbed connector is more robust and easier to deal with. The performance of the connector can be important at higher frequencies. It will generally attenuate signals about 1dB. More important at these frequencies are resonances that suck out energy. This happens when there is not a solid connection. You can design your enclosure to provide positive pressure between the connector and the circuit board, or you can bend the tab. The best thing to do is probably to solder the tab to the circuit.
